Family Guy — a show best known for its eccentric humor and pop culture references that make fans laugh out loud and groan all at the same time. From Robert Downey Jr. Ryan Reynolds played himself in Family Guy or rather, a version of himself that somehow became obsessed with the patriarch of the Griffin family. After getting attached to Peter and his spirit, he scares the man away.
It only makes sense that a show as obsessed with pop culture references and jokes as "Family Guy" would often feature celebrities playing parodies of themselves. Even during the early seasons of the long-running animated sitcom, Adam West voiced a deranged version of himself who was somehow serving as the Mayor of Quahog. Other actors who lent their likenesses and voices to the show include James Woods, who befriends Peter in "Peter's Got Woods," and Betty White, who narrates Peter's questionable erotica in audiobook form. Of course, casting celebrities on the show is sometimes a case of trial and error.
Guest stars on the shows over the past two decades have spanned musicians, actors and others from all over. Ryan Reynolds appeared as himself in the season 10 episode 'Stewie Goes for a Drive'. This would've been a few years before Reynolds launched to major stardom with 'Deadpool'. In the episode, Peter Griffin becomes suspicious that the actor is attracted to him.
